Editing CMR Cars
Colin McRae Rally car files (eg SubDay.c3d) which contain the textures for the cars are editable. Below are the instructions for how to 'extract' the editable file from the installed file.

Requirements:
Winzip
Paint Shop Pro (or similar gfx edit program)
TOCA Edit by Rob James
Medium/Full install of Colin McRae Rally

Instructions:
1) In a DOS command box, switch to the directory: C:\Games\Codemasters\CMR\Game\Objects\Cars (replace green with your CMR install directory) and rename the car you wish to edit. Here are the file names and the files they represent:
???Day.c3d - Texture bitmap of a car at day-time (car is the ??? eg. Subaru is Sub, VW Golf is VW)
???Night.c3d - Texture bitmap of a car at night-time
Rename the file you wish to edit as follows: To edit a day Subaru, rename the file SubDay.c3d to SubDay.gz. In Windows, open this file with Winzip and extract another file (the same name as the original). This is your editable car texture file.
2) In order to extract the bitmap, you must use a program called TOCA Edit:
a) Open the TOCA Edit program and load the extracted .c3d file. This will open a list of objects and five Bitmap files.
b) To edit the body of the car, first create a directory within the bfp directory in your TOCA Edit directory titled the same name as the .c3d (eg SubDay). Then right click on the bitmap labelled ***body (replace *** with the car) and then click Extract. This will extract your bitmap to the folder you have just created. Then open your graphics editing program and edit the bitmap.
3) To view your new car in the game, save the bitmap file, open TOCA Edit and go to the ***body. Right click and click import. Save the .c3d file and drag it into your Game\Objects\Cars directory and restart the game. There is no need to re-zip the file.
